Veterans and Active Duty Service Members

Returning home from active duty, many veterans find themselves challenged by non pre-existing mental health issues, struggling to live with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and/or alcohol abuse. Relationship problems are also cited as a frequent stressor by veterans adjusting to the return home. Drama therapy offers veterans the opportunity to work through the trauma of deployment, improve and maintain physical, emotional, and social functioning, enhancing independent living skills, and overall quality of life. Groups with veterans focus on the creation and maintenance of community and seek to build connections within a population that often reports a sense of isolation, hypervigilence and mistrust.
